In this installment David speaks with three nurses who's professional lives and commitment to others drew them to working in the field hospital. They discuss what it was like to provide conventional care in a most unconventional location to recovering COVID19 patients.
David is an emergency physician and healthcare leader who played an integral role in his state's response to the pandemic.
Major Barden is the Chief Nursing Officer for a NJ Air National Guard Air Wing with over 20 years of military service. He was the deputy Chief Nursing Officer of the COVID19 Field Hospital located in Secaucus, NJ.
Chris is a healthcare leader who recently changed career goals and is now an advanced practice nurse. During the pandemic Chris took on the vital role of clinical supervisor at the field hospital and supported the nurses and other staff who were at the bedside.
Claire was a full time nurse in the emergency department and just finishing her training as an advanced practice nurse when she accepted the opportunity to come to the field hospital. She would go on to support a number of pandemic related activities throughout the pandemic including testing and vaccine programs.
